Hi Hoff,

 

I think you've said what I suspected.We're not going to get NFS to work quite as we expected but at least we know now.

 

The systems we have used the private NFS mount to store application data in case of a box swap. The new solution has shared FC storage between the systems (not the NFS server), this will be used for the private application data (remove the NFS private mount) and just use the NFS server for the system wide mount. All the problems go away. Phew...

Another easy way to deal with the potential for a box swap is with an external StorageWorks shelf, or analogous, and a matching SCSI controller or two.  Way faster than NFS, too.  You can use a single-host confguration here, or an MSA30-MI box for dual-host
