Configure sftp

Hello Everyone,

I want to configure sftp and remove the ftp services which is now currently being used.

Kindly suggest what should I do to configure sftp and remove ftp.

Also what are the pre-requisites to configure it.

Kindly provide the complete procedure or steps to do the same.

Regards,

Mehul

Re: Configure sftp

To install the SFTP functionality you will need to install a version of Secure Shell (SSH).  SFTP is bundled with SSH.

There are numerous posts about SSH and SFTP and installing it and using it in the Forums and on the web.

To turn off regular FTP, you need to edit the /etc/inetd.conf file and comment the line for the FTP daemon.  You will then need to tell inetd to reread its configuration file with 'inted -c'.

Re: Configure sftp

Hi Patrick,

Thanks for the information.

The SSH is already installed here.

Can you please tell me how to configure it and what are the pre-requisites and post-requisites for it.

Mehul
