OK, Rick (and Tim), maybe I'm missing something here. Are you saying that the older Gig-E cards don't have as much actual throughput as 100bT cards?
35-40K on Gig-E, vs 50K on 100bT? That doesn't make any sense. First, what is the 35K or the 50K? Packets, transactions, bits or bytes?
I'm either majorly misinformed, or simply not understanding your take on this. As far as I know, 1000bSX (gig-e) is roughly 10x faster than 100bT, pound for pound. The fact that tiny payloads make ethernet inefficient scales (or so I thougth), cancelling itself out as you compare relative speeds. So... one more time, slowly.
