how to connect tru64 v 40. D to pc windows xp

I have an old alpah station 233/ 233 mhz machine with digital unix v 4.0 D on it.

This machine is connected to Gamma camera of Nuclear medicine, so I cant use other machine, also there a softwere of imaging and proseccing was installed on the digital unix, so I cant replace any other machine.

It was connected to old printer which there no more paper and ink is made for it.

And I found a solution with copy imaging to floppy disk, then to copy it into windows pc machine.

But the floppy disk well die soon, and it has no USB port and the digital unix v 4.0 D dont support USB.

I need new solution such as connect it to PC (I prefere without router or modem) or add USB card with its drive or any sultuion.

the machine has ethernet but not indefy, scsi external port, parallel and some other ports.

I'd use it.

Huh?

I'm more of a Tru64 V5.1B person, but I'd bet
that even 4.0D has TCP/IP networking,
including an FTP server, so it should be
relatively easy to use an FTP client on the
Windows system to access files on the Digital
UNIX system.

It could probably be configured to use almost
any network-connected PostScript-capable
printer, too.

As usual, many things are possible.

yes it has TCP/IP networking, but how i can make it?? the manual guide explain it with using old modems that perhaps not found now, add to this that im not expert with this, I only can do TCP/IP networking for windows pc with common modem speedtouch, so if there any explain please??

Hi,

I'll guess that the network card simply isn't configured.

If you run

# netsetup

That will allow you to configure it...

Bear in mind that the built in NIC on the old AlphaStation 255s will only do 10Mb/Half Duplex, so the switch port that it connects to might need configuring appropriately.

Cheers,

4.0D is too old, but there are documents
available for 4.0F, which should be pretty
close:

http://h30097.www3.hp.com/index.html
http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/pub_page/doc_list.html
http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/pub_page/V40F_DOCS.HTM
http://h30097.www3.hp.com/docs/base_doc/DOCUMENTATION/V40F_HTML/APS2SDTE/TITLE.HTM

and so on.

If higher speed is important, and if you have
an open PCI slot, then you might start
looking for a DEC 10/100 card like a
DE500-BA. I know nothing, but I'd guess that
that would be old enough for 4.0D to
understand. (Around here (eBay), they're
cheap.)

Uh, connect the wires? I'm not sure what the
mystery is. Any FTP client on the Windows
system (command-line, Web browser, ...)
should be able to fetch a file from the FTP
server on the Tru64 system.

If you want to send a file from the Tru64
system to the Windows system, then you would
need an FTP server on the Windows system.

FTP is probably the easiest thing to use, but
with the right software on each end, there
are other possibilities (NFS, rcp, Samba,
SSH, ...). Finding the right software for
Windows and/or such an old version of Tru64
may be difficult, so I'd start with FTP.

Re: how to connect tru64 v 40. D to pc windows xp

I d like to thank you all

and to ask about the ftp of windows

is it need or not need to modem or router or etc...??

I prefere direct connect with ethernet or serial ports (null modem cable) or even parallel, but I dont know which can success to connect, and I prefer not to install any softwere to the tru64 because it is defficult but no problem for windows.
