scp slow when copying to different user.

Hi All

when I scp a file (4.6gb cpio backup) as root on box1 to root on box2 I get 55Mb/s.

however, when I log in to box1 as myself and scp the same cpio file to app_user@box2 I only get 24Mb/s

Any ideas what could be slowing it down?

sorry, just noticed the app_user home directory has been moved to a different vg, which is obviously the problem.
