8250i CD-Wruter plus

I have an 8250i CDR\W drive that seems to have had a nervous breakdown. Out of the clear blue it just quit recording CD's. I am not sure if a driver was corrupted or what, but when I check under control panel and system it says simply IDE-CD R/RW 4x4x24. When I check the driver info properties it says that none are required or have been loaded. Did something go Kaplooey and if so,do I need more than the software disc. This does not seem to contain the drivers. It may be noteworthy that it happened after I did a windows update.
