My Hp 8200e is now a unknown device on win98SE, please help.
let me fully explain the situation. I
bought it a little while ago from circut city, installed it and in seconds i
was burning cds. my computers power supply was damaged and it had to be
repaired. In order to fix it the hard drive and various cards, etc were
transplanted to a new computer.I put the burner on the newly repared PC and
it worked fine, then for no apparent reason win98SE refused to recognise the
8220 as anything (cd-rom,burner)! no matter how many times i reinstalled the
software 1 disk or the drivers floppy disk, device manager still thinks its
an unknown device. and when I use the Driver Wizards' search for the best
driver option no matter where i tell it to look it installs the unknown
device driver. Oh yeah, when i choose the list option and search on either
the cd-rom or floppy that came with my drive the 8220 does'nt appear in the
list.
Does it have something to do with the transplant of my computers
components to a new P.C. or something else, or am I just screwed. Please
reply.
