SCSI cards for 600mx optical jukebox

Recently built a new imaging system with HP600mx optical jukebox that archives images to WORM media. The old system was 2000 server.

Does the 600mx support newer PCIx or PCI SCSI cards on a 2003 server system.

It seems the older adaptec and LSI cards do not even have windows 2003 server drivers.

Re: SCSI cards for 600mx optical jukebox

Does this unit have the single-ended/differential selector switch in the back? You will have to use the SE setting because I don't think you will find any differential SCSI adapters these days( this is NOT the LVD differential that you see today, it is the old differential SCSI that was used by HP also known as FWD or HVD).
From a SCSI connectivity perspective, you should be able to connect the 600mx to any of the modern LVD/SE SCSI adapters regardless of the PC bus interface (PCI, PCI-X, PCIe). You also need the appropriate cable. And unless there is something in the 600mx software that would prevent you from accessing the unit you should be able to use it with no problems.

Re: SCSI cards for 600mx optical jukebox

Thank you for the reply,

Yes it has the single ended / differential selector in the back. Previously we used an older adaptec 2944 adapter that was only windows 2000 server compatible. It was an old differential HVD type card.

Since the new box is a 2003 server I was thinking of an newer PCI-X LSI card with the LVD differential. That would use the SE setting correct?

Yes you would use the SE connector on the 600mx. The adapter must be able to support both LVD/SE modes and you would need a special cable to connect the adaptor (probably 68pin VHDCI) to the SE connector on the 600mx.
