Trying to do a Back-up on a DVD+RW

When I try to do a back-up onto a DVD+RW I get an error message ststing that the disk is full. These are brand new DVD's right out of the box. What is the problem and how can I solve it?

Dear Robert,
Be sure that RW disk is blank.And try to check that rw disc in other drive that that is blank or not.then you can suspect the dvd drive.or try to uninstall the dvd drive and writing software you are currently using
