VMS 5.5 CD Burner
I am looking to find out what CD Burners exhist (and have been tested to work) with a VMS 5.5 system.
System specs:
4000-90 MicroVax
VMS 5.5
Memory: either 64 or 128 (not sure at the current moment).
Please, if anyone can point me in teh correct direction, that would be appriciated. Thank you.

Re: VMS 5.5 CD Burner
OpenVMS v5.5 is *SO* old, I doubt you will be able to do anything native. There is not very much official support of CD-R directly on OpenVMS anything. Though it can be done, it is just easier to move the files off to a PC and use a $30 CD/DVD burner with free software. There are programs (again, I don't know if they will work with VAX/VMS v5.5!) that can make "image" files that are ODS-2 compatible on the VMS box. Then you ship that to a PC to burn directly to a CD. Then it will be a "native" Files-11, ODS-2 disc as far as OpenVMS is concerned.
Hoffman Labs has some FAQs about CD-R and OpenVMS that you can start with.
BTW, this thread is better suited to be placed in the OpenVMS forum. It is not really a general storage question.
