HL-DT-ST DVDRAM 4084
Hi,
I'm at my wit's end with my cd/dvd drive. While the player works fine, when I pop a blank disc into it, it sits and makes these grinding noises. Then, it refuses to recognize ANY blank media (I've bought several different kinds). However, it will play cds and dvds.
I first noticed something was wrong when my lightscribe refused to write. The software would attempt to work, then nothing, then an error message. The drive just does not know what to do with anything blank inside it.
I've tried reinstalling drivers after uninstalling, but it didn't help. All diagnostics state that "the device is working properly." I've looked for new drivers or updated ones without any luck, as hp and Microsoft do not have them. And at this point, I'm very frustrated and don't know what the heck to do.
Can you help?
