Help with my HP CD-Writer + 8290 usb device

Help with my HP CD-Writer + 8290 usb device

Friday my writer stopped working all togther. I updated , uninstalled and reinstalled. Now it reads disks but doenst record to disks. I have been trying all morning to get it to work. I use Record Now. I have windows xp. We had no problems with it at all for about 4 months and now this happens. Could anyone please help. In record now I just get the message you recording device doesnot support writing to CD media. This option is not available. Im really bumed, can some one help me please. thanks
