LG CD-RW Model 8083B

I have a HP computer (8650C) and the CD-R burner does not work with easy cd creator.I have no driver for my CD-R burner.
When I go to Device Manage, there is nothing there, no disk drive, no nothing!
On my system tray (on the bottom of the screen)
displays CD-DIRECT..It has a Red cross through it and I cant access it!
What should I do?

I have just installed one of these models on a clients computer and he has the same problem. There are a few ways to install your CD writer anid in most cases it usauly is seen on the POST on boot up, it could be a cable problem master/slave problem if one IDE cable is used for the hard drive and CD writer as I have encountered. IT seams from your discription that the software is loaded but not the CD-R burner. Check to make sure the cable is connected properly first sometimes you may have to load the driver in DOS and reboot. For more info on this drive go to this link.
