hp cd writer cd16f

I am having problem with this cd writer with operating system window XP.
This reads almost all recordable cds.ie. CD-R.
But it does not read CD-RW .I have tried different types of cd-rw of Memorex with speed 4X and 12X,
I have tried to update the drivers also but no solution. unfortunately the cd received with this is lost and it is quite old.
Can any one help me in solving this problem.
