11.11 to 11.31 Update

We are in the planning stages to upgrade our production servers fro 11.11 to 11.31...

We are going to do a cold install of 11.31 and rebuilding from there.

Is there a document of what needs to be moved over from the old servers and into the new. Don't want thee to be something we miss when building the 11.31 servers.

Re: 11.11 to 11.31 Update

Hi Mike:

Aside from handling users, groups and printer configurations you will want to capture things like:

# /home/*
# /root/.profile
# /etc/profile
# /etc/default/security
# /etc/hosts
# /etc/inetd.conf
# /etc/inittab
# /etc/nsswitch
# /etc/ntp.conf
# /etc/rc.config.d/netconf
# /etc/rc.config.d/netdaemons
# /etc/rc.config.d/nfsconf
# /etc/resolv.conf
# /etc/mail/sendmail.cf
# /etc/services
# /etc/shells
# /etc/shutdown.allow
# /var/adm/cron/*.allow
# /var/adm/fbackupfiles/*
# /var/spool/cron/crontabs/*
# /sbin/init.d/

Don't forget to add your volume group 'vgexport' mapfiles too.

You don't want overlay the 11.31 files with the 11.11 ones mentioned above, but rather merge the 11.11 localizations you made into the new 11.31 ones.

The above is not meant to be all-inclusive, but is meant to suggest some key files that you may need for reference.

Regards!
