Boot from SAN 11.31

HPUX 11 v.3
BL860c with no internal disks
EVA 4000

The HBA firmware is uptodate and all H/W should support BFS.
The trouble is since i have no internal disks I dont have a boot disk to copy or ignite.

I think i first need to create a LUN and present to the host. When EFI is loading the HPUX boot image will it see this LUN?

Re: Boot from SAN 11.31

Shalom,

EFI has a menu system that should permit you to set up a network boot. Of course a boot disk needs to be prepared on the SAN disk, and you need to boot of OS media to prepare it.

However, this method of running a system is not recommended. There should be a "local" disk made available to the blade and the OS should be installed there.

That way if the SAN goes down you have an OS with which to do diagnostics.
