security concerns on system connected to the internet

Hi All

I've got a system (rp3440) running 11i which is connected to the internet, and has got SSH installed, and we use it when we need to connect.I've specified in the inetd.sec file, what IPs can connect to the server, but lately I can see on syslog file attemps from people to try to connect. Can I further step up security on that system without removing my internet connection? I appreciate your replies.

You can use iptables to DROP or REJECT such connections

Re: security concerns on system connected to the internet

Hi there,

You can have Internet Express software on your server. It has many tools like Stunnel,Tcpdump,OpenSSL,DanteSOCKS which can be used to secure your server on internet. Have a look at their description at:
http://www.docs.hp.com/en/5990-7269/ch01s02.html#d0e108

You can download it for free on www.software.hp.com
Will it remain a personal, if I broadcast it here!
