I am working on a plan to upgrade my Polyserve SQL environment from 3.6.1 hotfix 1 to 3.6.2. This is in order to install add SQL 2008 to my existing SQL 2000/2005 environment. When I built the SQL 2000 and SQL 2005 side-by-side instances, I had to install all the SQL 2000 instances first before SQL 2005 (and was told not to go back and install anymore SQL 2000 instances which I have not). My question is this, once I install my first SQL 2008 instance, will I be able to go back and install SQL 2005 instances on that same node?
Only my development nodes will have SQL 2000/2005/2008 installed. My prod servers will be 2005/2008 and 2000 by itself.

Solution
You can go back and install SQL 2005 instances after 2008.
"If you will be installing SQL Server 2000 instances and SQL Server 2005/2008 instances on the same node, the SQL Server 2000 instances (including SP4) must be installed first."
From 3.6.2 HP PolyServe for Microsoft SQL Administration guide page 17

Re: SQL 2008 installation
remember to read the upgrade documentation about installing 3.6.2. It will tell you to uninstall the 3.6.1 SQL solution pack first. That is necessary.
THe safest thing is to install at least one 2005 instance before installing a 2008 instance. Once 2005 is installed once you can add additional 2005 instances without installing the base product again.
2000 and 2005 were a bit more rigid about this since 2005 was built on 2000 and for 2000 to work properly it had to be installed first.

Emil, are you saying to install another 2005 instance after the upgrade?
And does 3.6.2 support 32 bit O/S?
