10 Gb ethernet range
Hi,
I am trying to specify a 10Gb backbone for a campus. The fibre links between buildings would ideally be multi mode OM4. What is the maximum range that HP SFP+ has achieved with this.
The website details only 300m but I think this is for OM3. Cisco claim 400m for their optical deviecs on OM4.
Thanks, Brian.

Re: 10 Gb ethernet range
OM4 is reasonably recent; I have really heard very little about it.
The connector interface type (SFP+, XFP, X2, etc) will not have a bearing on the distance. It is only the specific properties of the optics - SR in this case.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multi-mode_optical_fiber says SR = 400m+
But speak to your supplier/HP rep and confirm this!
