5406 with HP J9685A ONE Adv H Svs zl Module-Win 2008-R2 and VLAN-Tag /802.1Q ?

Hi@all

I have a question about the service modules zl
- Windows 2008 R2 j9666a-

How (and whether) I can use a vlan-tag on the 10GB interfaces.
(for a dl-server is the about the "HP adapter teaming"  - "ftp://ftp.compaq.com/pub/products/servers/networking/proliant-teaming-whitepaper-march 2008.pdf"

These are available but not on the module.

On the switch, it is easy to config

5406 / 15_06_0008
HP J9685A ONE Adv H Svs zl Module
config
vlan 1 tag h1
vlan 2 tag h1
---------------------
xx (hp-std-svcs-H) # show interfaces

port status
Port Windows Connection Name | Enabled status
----------------------------------------- + -------- -----
H1 Local Area Connection | Yes Up
H2 Local Area Connection 3 | Yes Up
Management Local Area Connection 2 | Yes Down

Is that possible, that I can use multiple VLAN tag on an interface (H1) to Windows2008 R2?

Also note that the Windows Server 2008 R2 supports 802.1Q VLAN tagging and the intel Nic also.
(Intel(R) 82598EB 10 Gigabit AT CX4 Network Connection)

but how?

Thank you
(Sorry for bad english,)
Thomas

hi,

I don't know how service module show their "NIC" under your OS, but using Intel ProSet you can configure vlan easily.

Download :

The NICs in the ONE module are Intel 10Gb CX4 chipsets. Download the file AllNetworkAdapterDrivers_13_5.zip (maybe a newer version now) from the Intel website and install that.

I team/bond the 2 NICs into a 20Gb LACP connection, and run 802.1Q VLAN tags on top of that - works a treat! Make sure the matching ports in the switch are also configured to match
