ICMP Latency on 2910al
Hello people,
I have many procurve switch in my company and all 2910al model have some latency when i send a ping between 2 2910 switch directly connected
I see this problem just on 2910 al switch and the configuration is approximatively the same of other switch like 3500 2524, 2610.
I have try many ICMP destination 8212zl, 5406, 2910 and other but i have a latency with these devices (3 5 ms) when i have 1ms with all other switch
Can you explain me the reason of this latency if you have a reason :) or have you a solution for this ? i have updated with the last version but result it's same
Thanks in advance for your help
Fret

Re: ICMP Latency on 2910al
Hi
Management traffic towards the switch in general has the lowest priority. This is a design question, responding to ping requests promptly is the least important thing for the switch CPU to do. Here's an explanation:
When ICMP traffic is being passed through the switch it's handled the same way as any other LAN traffic, on the hardware, without involving the switch CPU.
