Issues with HPE 2530-48G and trunks.
Hi to all,
I have four units of the HPE 2530-48G switch. These switches are connected in a ring between them for redundancy purposes. These are configured as a switch stack (one commander and three memebers in the stack)
In the units 2 and 4, I have got configured four trunks in each switch with two ports each. In the trunk ports, I have got connected access points which let us to access to the WIFI network.
When I try yo ping to IP address of this WIFI network, I loose a lot of packets and the users can't to work cause the applications can't not establish the comunication (they can't map units pe)....
I have configured the trunks with this configuration:
trunk 39-40 trk1 trunk
trunk 41-42 trk2 trunk
trunk 43-44 trk3 trunk
trunk 45-46 trk4 trunk

Is correct this configuration?? Is there any mistake which can be breaking the communication?? The trunks aren't LACP trunks.
Thanks in advance.
Kind Regards.
David.

What is the Trunk config on the attached access points?

Re: Issues with HPE 2530-48G and trunks.
HI Vince,
I don't know.... The APs are managed by one external provider and I can't access to the configuration. But when we installed the APs, we made some tests and this way was the only way which the APs are kept running properly...
You can say me if the spanning-tree configuration is correct???
Thanks for all.
Regards.
David.

Re: Issues with HPE 2530-48G and trunks.
I don't really see the point of any of that spanning-tree config.
It is hard to know what to suggest without knowing what make/model the APs are, and what their config is.
You could infer something by checking, what is the status of both switchports in each trunk? Are they both up? Are they both passing traffic? What is your STP status? What does your log contain?

Re: Issues with HPE 2530-48G and trunks.
Since the setup already doesn't work....what happens after disconnecting ports 40 , 42, 44 and 46 ? Problem related to trunk might not show up when using only single connection.
Also, beware when roaming: Some HP switches use a MAC time-out to prevent flapping of MAC addresses.

Re: Issues with HPE 2530-48G and trunks.
Hi Vince,
the AP models are Xirrus XR620 or XR2436, the ports configuration is the same for all the devices. The AP has two gigaethernet ports, the two ports are in a no LACP teaming. They have got fixed IP for each AP.
In the switches the trunks ports have the following states:
All the trunks ports are in up state and are configured in auto negotiation (speed and duplex).
All the trunks ports are in forwarding state (STP).
In the logs, there isn't any event which make reference to these ports. There are ports blocked but none is a trunk port.
Regards.

Re: Issues with HPE 2530-48G and trunks.
HI 16again,
We had a lot of problems when we setup the network....... There are some AP, which only I can see one MAC address (each AP has two MACs).
How can I check if the MAC time-out is actived?? Or if that is the problem??
Thanks
Regards.

I had a read of this:

Which contains this:
