Trunk between HP and 3COM

Hi,

In our network we are working mainly with 3com switches, 4200 and 4800 series. Now since these are no longer available and we needed to expand, we have bought a HP Switch 2520-24-PoE(J9138A). Now we are using several VLANs in our network but i am having trouble with configuring the HP switch with a trunk to our 3com switches so we can use all the VLANs on our HP switches as well.

Can anybody help me how i need to configure the ports so trunking works on both switches?

Re: Trunk between HP and 3COM

Set up a bridge-aggregation group on the 3com switches (make sure it is dynamic)

Set up a port trunk on the ProCurve switches, eg

trunk 23-24 trk1 lacp

Then match up the VLANs (or run GVRP)

Re: Trunk between HP and 3COM

On the 3COM your interface will have something like:

    port link-type trunk
    port trunk permit vlan 1 101 126 150 201 249

And on the procurve

    vlan 1 untag Trk1

    vlan 20 tag Trk1

    vlan 30 tag Trk1

etc...

For the link aggregation, I couldn't get LACP working with my Commware7 switches, so I went with:

port link-aggregation group 101

&

trunk A21,B1 Trk1 Trunk

Re: Trunk between HP and 3COM

er....except you make the VLANs match up with each other, as opposed to what I have done just there...
