need help for VLAN setting on Procurve 3400CL

need help for VLAN setting on Procurve 3400CL

is there a solution that no need to change gateway setting after VLAN configuration?

 

 

 

 

 

we bought  procurve 3400cl Layer 3 siwtch and 2   2520 for our vlan setting, 

 

the orignal setting on pc1 is, 

ip : 192.168.100.10

gateway:192.168.100.1

dns:192.168.100.2

 

now I did setup a VLAN on the layer3 switch, 

old servers and pc on VLAN 1, 

new pc on VLAN 2, 

 

here's my brielf setting, 

 

vlan1   ip address 192.168.100.20 255.255.255.0
vlan2  ip address 192.168.110.254 255.255.255.0; ip helper-address 192.168.100.2
ip routing
ip route 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0 192.168.100.1

 

after configuration, 

I found pc1 can access internet, but can;t commucate with PC 3 in VLAN2, 

 

so I changed the gateway setting on PC1,

ip : 192.168.100.10

gateway:192.168.100.20

dns:192.168.100.2

 

then  pc1 can commucaite with PC3 in vlan 2, also can access internet, 

 

 

now the problem is, we have too many Servers and PCs in VLAN1, 

and also many software has gateway setting inside, 

it's a pain for us to change the gateway setting for all of them, 

 

I'm wondering if there's a solution that can be configured on 3400CL switch, 

that can archive my goal, thanks.

As long as each VLAN is on different subnet, no, there is really no way. Gateway IP address must be on the same subnet as your device is.

 

Your 3400 is routing. Use DHCP for the devices, and configure the default GW to be the 3400.

 

For subnet 192.168.100.0/24  configure desired scope, and let DHCP server provide 192.168.100.20 for client gateway. For subnet 192.168.110.0/24 configure desired scope, and let DHCP server provide 192.168.110.254 for client gateway.
