12Gb SAS SSD backwards compatibility
Was browsing for a 400 GB SSD and found HP 400GB 12G SAS High Endurance SFF 2.5-in SC Enterprise Performance 3yr Wty Solid State Drive (741155-B21). It had the highest Drive writes per day for five years and lifetime writes of the SSD's i've found.
I've been trying to find any info on if the 12G drives are compatible with the 6G raid controllers and HBAs, for example smart array p420 or H220 SAS HBA.
If I remember correctly from the 3G and 6G shift that the disk negotiated it's speed down to what the controller supports or am I wrong?
Best Reagards.

Re: 12Gb SAS SSD backwards compatibility
Hello,
I think you are right. Just keep on mind, this drive is supported only on gen8 server, so you have to use controller in gen8 generation... quickspecs at http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetDocument.aspx?docname=c04154378
