Boot from USB settings - bios check...

I have an audit coming up and I wish to check the settings for "boot from USB devices" in the bios. Is there any way to check this setting WITHOUT rebooting every server and manually checking this?

Thanks for your responses,

Louis

Re: Boot from USB settings - bios check...

Which hardware model and OS?

With Linux on most Proliant hardware, if the HP hardware monitoring drivers have been installed, there is a "hpasmcli" command.

hpasmcli -s "show boot"

will show the configured boot order. Something similar might be available on Windows too.

Of course, if the intruder is close enough to plug in an USB device and boot the system from it, s/he is usually also close enough to open the lid of the system, flip the password override DIP switch and change the BIOS settings to his/her liking.

That's why the server room and/or the equipment racks tend to have locked doors, after all.

Re: Boot from USB settings - bios check...

Thanks for your reply...we are using Windows.
Our audit will check the boot from USB setting and check the boot order.

I'm not real keen on rebooting 200+ servers to check this setting (and configure if needed) on production servers.

Any thoughts for Windows? Script? Program?
