It's OK.

First replace broken disk, wait till SmartArray 5300 controller will complete rebuild (you can check rebuild progress in system management homepage, in Array configuration utility or just check messages in windows event viewer).
When rebuild completed replace second 9 Gb disk to 36 Gb disk and wait till rebuild completed. It's all. After this you even can create new logical disk on 36 - 9 = 27 Gb space.

You need to use diskpart tool
But you cannot extend C:\ partition with diskpart, only data volume.

However you always can create new logical disk on unallocated space.

Re: Change Hot Plug Disk with different size

If you use a 3rd party utility, you can extend the "C" (root drive). The utility I like is Partition Manager. Hope this helps.

Re: Change Hot Plug Disk with different size

After the the rebuild, you can use those utilities mentioned here to create 1 large C (root volume) and use disk manager (or diskpart) for the D drive. You can use what ever sizes you like. Let me know if you need anything else.

Hope this helps.

Re: Change Hot Plug Disk with different size

Thanks for all
Tomorrow i'll change the disks and resize the partition with volume manager symantec
i'm very afraid
Another little question:
I read about id scsi
precisally with hot plug disk is not necessary to set (with the jumps) the id on the disk, is correct?
Thanks

Re: Change Hot Plug Disk with different size

Correct, not needed on these models. It's older clone desktops that people turn into servers and SCSI-1 devices.

Hope this helps and thank you for the points.

Mike.
