DL360e Gen8 Fan Noise

Just bought a DL360e Gen8 and whilst its sat idle with no HDD's in it the fans spin up randomly. The room temperature is 21 degrees and the inlet temp 22 degrees. Hp engineer has been out to look at it and said there's nothing wrong with the hardware but I've got another DL360e and this doesn't happen with that one.

Any clues as to what I can try with it and it's just too noisy for our customers office.

BTW - I've updated all the BIOS, power management firmware already also it still does this when I've got it running ESXi 5.5 U1

Re: DL360e Gen8 Fan Noise

Hi,

See if any of these documents applies to your fan issue.

1.  HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i and B320i Controllers Should Be Configured for "Dynamic HP Smart Array B120i RAID Support" or Enabled in the RBSU and Using the HP Controller Driver to Avoid Higher Fan Speeds and Fan Noise.

2.  Fluctuating Fan Noise in Gen8 Servers.

Thank You!
