The problem is that anaconda has no way to determine which is target HDD. In any case, I will try to boot from the USB again and see how it is mounted.

Correct, annaconda will try to use all devices it sees as a disk. If your doing a manual installation, keep in mind, even if you direct the installer to use /dev/sdb as the installation drive, you also need to modify the boot loader settings as the installer will put it on /dev/sda. If you are using a kickstart file you can tell anaconda to ignore /dev/sda
Another option is to setup a PXE/ Network repository and do the installation over the network instead of booting from USB
