DL380 G9 won't boot with PCI Express Emulex HBA
Hello,
We are trying to install an old Emulex Fibre HBA A8003A (Charon Emulator requirement) into this new DL380 G9 server. This card works perferctly fine with a DL380 G7 but not with this new DL380 G9 even with the latest BIOS firmware applied. Worked with HP tech support and they said it's not compatible with HP Dl380 G9. Upgraded G9 BIOS firmware, upgraded HBA firmware and made a few settings change but didn't fix the bootup problem. Do you have any suggestions or settings that I could try? I wish I could work with the newer HBA but can't in this case. Errors show on the attached screen capture.
Thanks for just checking!

Re: DL380 G9 won't boot with PCI Express Emulex HBA
Hi,
A8003A, FC2242SR (LPe11002), 397740-001 4Gb PCIe-to-Fibre Channel (FC) host bus adapter - StorageWorks FC2242SR dual-channel.
The above card is used in old servers, this card is not compatible with new technology PCI slots.
DL380 Gen9 supports this card 81E and 82E Emulex Fibre Channel HBAs (LightPulse LPe12000).
Gen9 server has PCIe 3.0 technology.
Emulex Branded LightPulse Host Bus Adapters selection guide.

I cannot comment on the Error codes but I can only suspect that PCI technology and power requirements between the cards make them incompatible in servers.
Thank You!
I am a HP employee

Re: DL380 G9 won't boot with PCI Express Emulex HBA
Hi,
Similar error i got while installing Windows 2008 R2 on HP DL360 G9.
The solution was -> If Microsoft Windows 2008 R2 is used in UEFI Boot Mode, UEFI Optimized Boot must be disabled (this option is enabled by default)
