DL380p Gen8 DVD blank removal

Is there an easy way to get the optical media blank out so you can fit a DVD into a DL380p Gen8? I had to take the tray out and use a long screwdriver and hammer because it is so well secured. Surely that can't be right.

Steps to remove Optical drive option
1. Power down the server.
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend the server from the rack.
4. Remove the access panel.
5. Remove the existing media drive option or blank.
Slide the optical drive into the drive bay.
Connect the power and data cable to the system board and the optical drive.
9. Install the server into the rack
10. Connect each power cord to the server.
11. Connect each power cord to the power source.

Since the answer was a non-answer I suppose I will try andyalder's method.

Two screws and the whole assembly slides out. A long screw driver should pop the blank right out, or at least it has on the ones I've messed with. Push on the tab on either end of the blank
