HDD compatibility

Is the hard disk EH0146FBQDC compatible with servers ProLiant DL 380 G5, DL 380 G6, DL 580 G4 and StorageWorks MSA 50?
Are there tables of device compatibility?

Re: HDD compatibility

Hi,

http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=1121516&spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c00305257

could help.

The model number is not enough to ascertain if the disk is compatible, because the same disk model may be housed in different carriers which are different between servers.

Is there an HP spare part or option number with the disk?

Re: HDD compatibility

Short way: If it fits in the server and the server sees the disk it is compatible :)

Long way:
You could use the numbers you found to look in the Matrix link I linked to above.

All 507129-010 point to 512744-001.
The tricky part is finding what the option number is for that spare part number - because it's so common.

http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=512744-001

could be used to find out which option number it is.

For example: http://partsurfer.hp.com/WSearch.aspx?Wchar=N&PNSearch=Y&searchText=HP%20146GB%206G%20SAS%2015K%202.5in%20DP%20Hard%20Drive%20Disk%20(HDD)

Then you can look in the quickspecs for each of your server / array and see if any of those option numbers are listed - then it is compatible and supported.

Re: HDD compatibility

This list is useful too:

http://h20566.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAGE/public/kb/docDisplay/?sp4ts.oid=397642&spf_p.tpst=kbDocDisplay&spf_p.prp_kbDocDisplay=wsrp-navigationalState%3DdocId%253Demr_na-c00305257-384%257CdocLocale%253D%257CcalledBy%253D&javax.portlet.begCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken&javax.portlet.endCacheTok=com.vignette.cachetoken

You will find for example:
EH0146FBQDC
Part
507129-010
Spare
512744-001

but you will find it more than once ... with different carrieres etc.

So better search the product no you found on he disk.

Now you can compare with the servers quickspec.

Hope this helps!
Regards
Torsten.

The link Torsten provided goes to the same content as I linked above, the "HP/Compaq Hard Disk Drives - Hard Drive Model Number Matrix"
