HP DL320e Gen8 with Smart Array B120i - Bluescreen by libsa.sys/HPSA2.sys - Windows ChckDsk
Hello,
The Problem is as followed :
Since 2 Weeks we have on an DL320 Gen8 Server with Microsoft Small Business Sever 2011 installed on it , Bluescreens with the Info : SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED caused by Driver libsa.sys HP SmartArray DLL , File Version 6.1.7600.16385 and HPSA2.sys File Version : 6.10.0.64
Allways when we try to restart the Server the he wants to perform an Windows Checkdisk. This checkdisk than hangs on 11 Percent.
The Server uses the HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i Controller . The newest HP Driver for this Controller is installed on Wondows. The strange Thing is that the B120i Controller in the Smart Storage Administrator shows me the Firmware 3.54.0 but on the Website the last Firmware is the 0.50 from 9.September 2014. When i try to update in Windows the Firmware from the Raid Controller with this File the Installer told me that there are no supported Products installed on the Server. There are no Error Messages in the IML or in the Smart Storage Administrator .
In the Windows Events there are the following Messages :
Event ID 1 , VDS Basic Provider
Event ID 15 , Virtual Disk Service
Is this a Windows Problem or an Raid Controller Problem ?
Thanks for Tips

Hi there,
odd behaviour.

Are you absolutely sure, that the B120i embedded controller is active? From the server's Quickspecs in Performance Models a Smart Array P222 with 512MB FBWC is used.
I can't even find any firmware updates for the B120i for download at HP (neither a 0.50 nor a 3.54.0), but maybe I am looking at the wrong place. Also there is nothing in the contents listing of HP SPP as of 9 Sep 2014.
Is the latest BIOS/System ROM for the server installed?
I would for now recommend booting the server into HP SPP (Service Pack for Proliant) to check if that finds any updates for it.
Hope that helps
cykVM
P.S. iLo also received an update recently, maybe that helps (it's not included in Sep SPP, because it was released a week ago: Firmware 2.02 for iLO 4

Although this is an older discussion it might be a good read for your problem: http://community.spiceworks.com/topic/425814-brand-new-hp-proliant-major-problems

Re: HP DL320e Gen8 with Smart Array B120i - Bluescreen by libsa.sys/HPSA2.sys - Windows ChckDsk
We are having Windows 2012 R2 Server blue screen (PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (libsa.sys) for the following hardware:
HP ProLiant ML310e G8 FW - J04 (2013-11-09)
Integrated HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i RAID Controller (v.3.54.0, 0MB)
We are unable to install Windows 2012 R2 x64 on any (60x UN) HP ProLiant ML310e G8.
The official public Hewlett-Packard driver DOES NOT WORK on/with Windows 2012 R2 x64:
* RECOMMENDED * HP Dynamic Smart Array B120i/B320i SATA RAID Controller Driver for Windows Server 2012 and Microsoft Windows Server 2012 R2 x64 Editions
Type: Driver - Storage
Version: 62.12.0.64(30 Mar 2015)
Operating System(s): Microsoft Windows Server 2012 | View all
File name: cp024079.exe (1.3 MB)
https://h20566.www2.hpe.com/hpsc/swd/public/readIndex?sp4ts.oid=5249599&swLangOid=8&swEnvOid=4138
Is there an alternative (internal FTP/external) web link to the correct Windows 2012 R2 Smart Array B120i driver?
Please need help urgently. We are having 60 units (servers) affected without HP service contract.
Cheers
