Hi All,
I'm attempting to upgrade the ram in my ml350e G8 from its stock 4Gb to 12GB by adding two 4GB ddr3 1333 ECC dimms. The orginal memory is smart memory but the dimms im adding are not.
If i use all three dims the 12GB of ram is recognized by the BIOS but the boot process halts at:
"initializing intel boot agent GE v1.4.02
PXE 2.1 Build 091 (wfm 2.0)"
the system shows that smart memory is no longer in use. I have tried removing the original dimm and just installing the two new dimms but the same error applies.
The system functions fine when just using the orginal 4GB smart dimm. All firmware is fully up to date as far as im aware.
Any ideas on why this is happening?
Cheers,
Aaron

Re: HP Ml350e G8 Ram Upgrade Problem
Are you populating the white slots only that correspond to the installed processor?

Re: HP Ml350e G8 Ram Upgrade Problem
Populate memory modules in the following order for each installed processor:
6-A
4-B
2-C
5-D
3-E
1-F
Smart Memory will be enabled only when all the installed memory modules are HP memory modules.
