HPSUM Error when trying to install PSP

Hi,

I'm trying to install the Proliant Service Pack on my Red Hat 5.8 system and am getting an error when I try and install.

"FATAL ERROR: Repository manager could not be started. hpsum will now exit" (see attached)

Does anyone know a way round this?

Cheers

Re: HPSUM Error when trying to install PSP

I ran into this issue as well when I attempted to run hpsum by copying the "swpackages" directory from the SPP CD onto my hard drive and running it from there.  I got around this by running hpsum directly from the CD-ROM.  Perhaps there are more files on the SPP CD that HPSUM requires in order to run?

Quick reply in case anyone comes across this issue like I did.

I too had this problem today applying to RHEL5.8 server. I didn't have the DVD image handy as it had already been copied to our file share and I had copied it down to the Linux server.

Somehting with the permissions causes this error. I opened up the perms on all the files (chmod 777) because they are only temporary anyway.

Issue resolved.
