Re: Install 64 bit OS on DL380 G5 x86??
(By the way it is 64-bit NOT x64)
The x86 refers to the Intel CPU architecture all the way from the first 8086 CPU in 1980s to the 80286, 80386, 80486, Pentiums etc.
The x86 architecture is to distinguish the hardware from other CPU architectures such as AMD, Itanium, SPARC, RISC etc.
Some OSes, such as the LINUX ones, as you can see in the URL have different build releases for x86 HW and for AMD hardware
The microsoft OSes do not. The same windows release will install in x86 (Intel CPU) server and in an AMD (AMD CPU) server. That's why you only one windows version for each release.

Re: Install 64 bit OS on DL380 G5 x86??
the DL380 G5 is x86 (Intel CPU)
the DL385 G5 is AMD (AMD CPU)
The same windows relase (same DVD) would install in both of them. But if you wanted to install Red Hat Linux 5 on them you would use different RH 5 releases (different DVD's)

Re: Install 64 bit OS on DL380 G5 x86??
There are also 64-bit versions of Windows which run on Itanium processors (IA-64 instead of x64), which are in HP Integrity Servers.
The DL380 G5 can run 64-bit (x64) or 32-bit OS (x86).
And as TTr already said, Win2008-R2 is only available as 64-bit (x64). This support matrix:
http://h71028.www7.hp.com/enterprise/us/en/servers/ws-servers-2008-r2.html
says Web R2 is suppored on DL380 G5. This must be valid for all DL380 G5 models.

Leave it to microsoft to confuse things.
Anyway, as long as you understand the context of each term...

Re: Install 64 bit OS on DL380 G5 x86??
Unofficially, win2008R2 might install on the DL360G4 but you will not find drivers for some or all of the hardware components. Most people in cases like this they use drivers from similar releases of windows.
So you are on your own on this. If Win2008 R2 isntalls fine, try some of the win2003 64-bit drivers on this page

(ahhh, again with the x64!)
