Memory upgrade - proliant ml350 g4p server - Help needed!

Hi,

Can anyone out there help me?

we need to upgrade the memory in one of the proliant ml350 g4p servers. we currently have 6 512mb memory cards. We are looking at upgrading to 3 2gb cards.
1 - Can this be done or do they have to be in pairs?
2 - is this cheaper and more effective then having 6 1 gb cards?
any help would be welcomed

Pairs only, sorry. Kits are sold as 2x1GB, 2x2GB and so on...

2 - is this cheaper and more effective then having 6 1 gb cards?

Cheaper: it depends if you buy HP branded RAM, generic RAM, discounts, etc

More Effective: True, due to memory interleaving capabilities.
