Novell 6.5 sp7 on Proliant DL380 G7

Hello,

Can we install Novell 6.5 sp7 on Proliant DL380 G7 Server?

Please confirm.

Server Details:

Proliant DL380 G7 Server

Dual Intel® Xeon®  X5660 ( 2.8 GHZ, 6 cores )

Smart Array P410i Integrated 1 GB

7 x 300 GB Hot plug 2.5-inch SAS

I'd say no. The G6 was the last DL380 certified to run Netware, and then only the G6 models that shipped with Intel Xeon 5500 processors.

Please confirm, Smart Array P410i controller supports Novell 6.5 SP7 as P410i contoller is not there in Novell supported controllers list.

It's not officially supported, my guess is that it works fine since it's almost the same hardware as a G6, ideally you could use 5500 Nehalems instead of 5600's. Make sure you use the latest driver version DURING the installation process and also make sure the P410 has the latest firmware, there are known issues specific to Netware with older firmware.

I do not recommend people to run this config, however if need be, it is likely to work.
