Proliant 1600 IDE problems
I have a 1600 P08 500mhz with 512mb ram and it is set up in a raid 5 configuration. It has an IDE cd-rom hooked up and i am trying to get my IDE hard drive set up on it. I would prefer for it to boot to the ide hard drive instead of to the array configuration. I use smartstart 5.50 and have gone into the bios to see about changing the IDE controller information but it keeps telling me that IDE Fixed Disks are not supported on this system. what can i do to remedy this situation???

Re: Proliant 1600 IDE problems
... effort and additional controller is not worth of try, buy used HDD from eBay and use SCSI, SCSI based servers not designed to support IDE Hard drives ...

Re: Proliant 1600 IDE problems
The IDE controller does not support IDE hard drives. You would need to install a new IDE controller to attach a modern IDE hard drive.
