Question about DL 580 G5 CPU upgrade

I'm considering going from quad core to the hex core. Do I need to upgrade all 4 at the same time, or can I do it individually, or do the CPUs have a matching pair?

Re: Question about DL 580 G5 CPU upgrade

Hi,

All processors within a server must and should be of same type.

Thank You!

Re: Question about DL 580 G5 CPU upgrade

Hi,

  • Whenever multiprocessor configurations are made the processors should be of the same part number.
  • When replacing the processor, replace the heatsink also.
  • Always install a PPM when a processor is installed
  • Processors must be installed in the following order: processor 1, processor 2, processor 3, and processor 4.
  • Update the system ROM before installing the processor

For a list of compatible processors, refer to the server's QuickSpecs.  Section Core Options.

Hope this helps!!
