Smart Array 6400 and Windows Server 2008 R2

Dear all,

I have installed Windows Server 2008 R2 on my HP DL380 G5. This system has an Smart Array 6400 PCI-X controller with an MSA30 attached to it.

After installing all agent from HP, I noticed that this controller isn't listed into the box "Storage". I can see the internel P400 controller, but not the 6400.

Under device driver, I saw the 6400 controller as well as P400. If I'm going to HP MAnagement Homepage under "System - PCI Device" I can see the Smart Array 6400:

19 4 PCI-X Slot 5 64-bit HP Smart Array 6400 Controller

So why I can't see it below "Storage" categorie? I was unable to find any drivers from HP for this specific version of Windows Server, byt from the Windows device management, the driver manufacturer in HP and its version is 6.12.4.62 while my P400 is 6.20.0.64.

By the way, I am able to configure the RAID using the Array Configuration Utility. I can choose either P400 or 6400 controller.

Hope somebody can help me on this.

Thank you all and best regards,
Yanick

I'm dealing with an identical situation but when I attempt to install that driver, the p400 controller is being rewritten to the 6400 driver which causes the system to bluescreen.  Is there any way to prevent that behavior?
