Smart Array P212 JBOD possible?

Is it true that if you want to use linux software raid, you have to create multiple 1-drive raid0 logical drive on smart array P212? That means you can have max 24 disks this way...

Is it possible to let smart array P212 expose the hard disk in JBOD form? In other words, P212 works like a dumb HBA?

Thanks.

Re: Smart Array P212 JBOD possible?

All smart arrays I'm aware of can only present RAIDs (0,1, or whatever).

But the question is, why using software RAID if you can have this in hardware?

Hope this helps!

Torsten.

Re: Smart Array P212 JBOD possible?

You will have to create multible arrays and logical drives.

It can't present disks like a dumb HBA.

You can create multible logical drives, on an array. You must use the ACU, to make this configuration.
I will try to find the max supported logical drives.

Max supported physical drives = 54
Support logical drives greate than 2 TB
