a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI) error

The computer is suddenly falling down once or twice in a week. There is always in Event Viewer the following message from cpgasm (Event ID 4209):

"The Compaq System Management Driver has detected that the system encountered a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI) prior to this boot. The NMI source was: Uncorrectable memory error, socket 3."

I have updated the System Rompaq Firmware version to 4.07A 14.3.2001. That didn't help.

Is there some problem in hardware?

The server is serving as a MS Terminal Server.

Re: a Non-Maskable Interrupt (NMI) error

Try moving the memory around and see if the error follows the memory.

We actually had the memory replaced and it did it one more time, and now it hasn't done it since.

I'm getting the same error on a DL360G1. Any fix?

hi

this error usually occurs only if you have bad memory
-------------------------------------------
replace the dimm
-------------------------------------------
in very rare cases the reason is a problem with the memory controller (north bridge / chipset). in this case the systemboard (300 series) or memory board (500 series) must be replaced.
