iLO on G4 Features and Licensing?
After poking around on the historical pages, I'm not clear on licensing costs and features for iLO on G4 servers. Anyone know what comes stock, what needs extra money to license, whether it's still available to purchase?
I'm specifically looking for whether booting a network-located (or client-located) ISO was on the original iLO feature list. Thick client or web-based? Remote console?
Thanks in advance.

Re: iLO on G4 Features and Licensing?
Hi,
In a G4 server is an iLO2 chip installed. Just like with iLO3 and 4 you need the ILO Advanced license for these funtions:
Virtual Media - mount ISO or other media thru your client onto the server
Graphical Remote Console
LDAP/AD integration
some nice additional features like multi user collaboration and video recording of your console...
Virtual Media Power Button and the POST (boot) Remote Console works without the additional license.
Kr,
Bart

Which model server?
All BL (Blade servers) and (some?)ML1xx servers come with Advanced licenses allowing remote control while in graphical mode.

Blades do not come with the advanced license installed. The Blade server iLO has some features standard that are advanced features for the DL/ML line. The standard iLO for BL systems allows remote console and virtual media through a browser. The blade advanced license opens up the rest of the advanced features

So can one still buy the Advanced license for them?

Re: iLO on G4 Features and Licensing?
Hi,
The license keys are the same, so they work on all versions of iLO...

For the ML370 G4:

Throw in an old RILOE-II card - no license required. They are cheap on Internet auction sites.

Only, it takes a particular flavor of java in the browser to get it to be fully functional, which ran on maybe Win98 or Win2K.
