netserver 60 - slow hard disk data transfer

I have always found quite slow the speed of the data transfer of my hard disks. (they should be faster , being scsi, and having such a good scsi controler ...) They work slower than an normal ide hard disk.

a friend has told me that in the first models, they found a bug in the controller (or something) that did the disk work much slower (5 mb/s instead of 10 mb/s +-).

he also told me that Hp solve this thing through an update the the Bios.

Has anyone know , where can I find the history of updates of the Hp e60 bios, and what the were supposed to fix?

I have found the last update, in the web, but it only fix someyhing about the installation of windows 2000...

best regards

Re: netserver 60 - slow hard disk data transfer

Here are the release notes for 4.06.18:

http://netserver.hp.com/support/compatibility/nav_cd/navcd_7756.asp

So if you are using later than 4.06.18, then this shouldn't be an issue.

Have you checked what speed the SCSI controller is set for?

Re: netserver 60 - slow hard disk data transfer

how can I see the transfer rate?

shall I enter in the bios setup?

Its a server without screen, and before shutting down I would like to be sure.

thanks for your assistance.

Santiago if you follow all other advice and it did not work, try going in to settings for your scsi card not your bios. your computer bios does not contrelled your scsi that's why it is called scsi, sorry for being naughty.

change the speed on your controller. clean your temp files and then defrag your disks, may be that magic will work.
