Issue with Display of Staffing Profile name in Portlet/Report

Hi Team,

We are currently on PPM 7.5, SP7 and the OS is Windows 2003. We are currently using a custom portlet and report to aid in reporting.

the issue is we have a staffng profile with name 'Windows  Issue and server recruitment' (observe 2 spaces between 'Windows' and  'Issue'. however when displayed on Portlet or Report the double spaces are removed and replaced with a single space which is making hte analysis bit difficult as the data from backend is not matching with what we are obtaining via the portlet.

the backend table shows the name with double spaces however the one from Portlet/report has single space. Please help us in knowing this logic and any ways to avoid this auto conversion.

Thanks in advance

Bharath

Re: Issue with Display of Staffing Profile name in Portlet/Report

You're probably experiencing an HTML formatting "feature."  Since the portlet is displayed on a web page, it will be parsed like any other web page and HTML will combine multiple whitespace characters into a single space.  You could have 30 spaces in the data in the database, but you will only see one in the portlet.  If you examine the actual HTML, that should reveal that the two space really are there, but you just don't see it on the screen.

Any option to not remove the extra spaces from the fields in HTML reports.

No, it's not a PPM option, it's HTML spec. It's how HTML is defined to behave and how the browsers translate that behavior.
