HP Protect--Technical Breakout sessions you don't want to miss!

‎08-26-2014 08:23 AM - edited ‎06-05-2015 01:56 PM

September 8-11th, the best in the security industry will converge upon Washington, D.C. to discuss the present and future of security at HP Protect. With over 150 sessions to choose from, there’s something for everyone.

Interested in technical breakouts? Here are a few that are still open for registration:

TB3050 -  Analyzing and Manipulating Objects in Web Browsers

Buffer overflows, structured exception handler overwrites, saved return pointer overwrites, and format string exploitation techniques are slowly becoming things of the past due to new developments in today’s kernels and compilers. As a result, attackers have found a new channel for code execution in manipulating object function tables through available scripting languages to create memory holes. See how to achieve remote code execution by maintaining reference to objects that have been released.

TB3051 -  Thinking outside the sandbox: Violating trust boundaries in uncommon ways

Attacking the modern browser and its plug-ins is becoming harder than ever. Vendors are employing numerous mitigation technologies to increase the cost of exploit development. Attackers are now forced to uncover multiple vulnerabilities to gain privileged-level code execution on targets, involving bypassing data execution prevention and the application sandbox. Hear four uncommon bypass techniques successfully used in winning entries at this year’s Pwn2Own contest. These highly effective approaches have been used to bypass the most advanced application sandboxes in use today, and understanding them will provide a unique perspective for defense.

We’re looking forward to seeing you at these Technical Breakout sessions! Click here to register, and visit the following link to see the entire session catalog from which you can build your agenda!
