Viva Las Vegas! HP Enterprise Security Products represent at HP Discover 2014

One of the great things about working for HP is the diversity of what we do. Simply put, we make a lot of stuff.  HP Discover gives us in the enterprise security industry an opportunity to view the world through a different perspective and in turn to also introduce security to a much wider audience.  We have a couple of presentations that really serve those dynamics well.

First, Frank Mong will be discussing how to stop looking for the silver bullet and start thinking like a bad guy. This session will examine how companies need to rethink their security mindset and start developing the strategies necessary to combat highly organized and dangerous real world adversaries. Almost 86 percent of security budgets are spent trying to stop hackers at the infiltration stage, but repeated research and statistics (or even reading the news) show that's not solving the problem. So what's needed is a new approach that involves not looking for the 'silver bullet' solution that stops a single attack, but rather one that counters how hackers actually operate and utilizes security threat analysis to guide strategy.

Secondly, I’ll be reviewing HP ESP’s latest vulnerability research information during the cyber risk session where I’ll discuss the results of both the Fortify on Demand Global 2000 Mobile Security study and the HP 2013 Cyber Risk Report.   The complexity and difficulty of securing enterprises grows greater with the passage of time. But with the right information, organizations can significantly reduce their attack surface, substantially mitigate risks, and prevent the losses and damages associated with successful attacks. To that end, we examined the areas that notably contributed to the growing attack surface in 2013. Come to this session and learn which attacks hackers most often employ; the latest information revealed by security research; and other important insights into the current vulnerability landscape.

There are a lot of other great security events happening at HP Discover ranging from how to justify a bigger security budget to banking’s specific security challenges  (or how to steal $60 million in 60 seconds, if you prefer). Some of the other HP Enterprise Security Products sessions occurring at HP Discover include:

DF4544 - Introduction to Atalla IPC: Security for unstructured sensitive data

DF3507 - Applications Security: A critical link in enterprise security

DF3968 - Top ten use cases of ArcSight—From log management to security to IT operations

BB3525 - Software Security goes mobile

BB3522 - The bad guys are already in your networks: What are you doing about it?

BB3523 - The fastest search engine on the planet for unifying security and IT operations

HP Discover 2014 runs from June 10-12, 2014 in lovely Las Vegas, Nevada. For more information and to register, visit us at HP Discover.
