Re: Difference between Test Director & Quality Center

Mercury referred to the product as Test Director up to version 8.0.

From 8.2 the formal name was along the lines of "Quality Center, Test Director" as Mercury intended to group a bunch of other business stuff with it.

However, it is pretty much been referred to as just "Quality Center".

It has been a very confusing name change, I've had some strange support responses trying to get a straight answer.

Thanks Renga & Cwelch for your responses.

Yes it has been very confusing that Mercury / HP decided to refer to the same tool with 2 different names! To make it worse when I search online for some techincal support on both names it brings up a whole lot of documents which made me think they are 2 different tools.

Hi Kumar,
Please find the attached document for the technical differences between QC & TD.

Re: Difference between Test Director & Quality Center

The technical differences has one entry that is misleading.

Only the QC 8.0 server can run on other operating systems (Linux, Solaris).

The QC 8.0 client will only work on Windows.

All versions of Test director and Quality Center clients only work on Windows.
