PuTTY to HP-UX using hostname works, using IP address fails

This is REALLY odd.  I'm new to HP-UX and just installed SSH on 11i V2 server.  I can SSH using PuTTY as long as I use the hostname.  If I try to use the IP address, I get a Connection Refused.

Any ideas?  Thanks!

Putty/ssh work fine with host name or IP address. In your case hostname is probably not resolving to the IP address you are using. Run nslookup to check IP address the hostname is resolving to and use that IP address for connection.

Thanks Rajesh for the non-sarcastic reply!  I was pulling my hair out (if I had any) as this simply didn't make sense.  Ultimately it came down to DNS, cache, and a bit of stupidity.  Although I'll claim exhaustion after hours upon hours of working through other issues when this came up.

Anyway, now I'm back to trying to get SSH working on 11i V1.

Thanks!  Cheers...
